IF YOU HAVE ENJOYED Chia Joo Suan's What's In Your Food? and You're What You Eat, you are in for another delicious treat with Eat Well, Live Well. This book addresses popular natural remedies and recipes from Malaysia's different communities, and offers scientific studies to show that these may not be mere old wives' tales, after all. From making children grow taller by boiling peanut root with chicken in soup to advice on abstaining from chicken to help treat a bad cough, Chia clarifies truths and debunks the myths behind seemingly ambiguous traditional recipes for good health. Eat Well, Live Well is for anyone with an interest in food safety and nutrition and who wants to know more about food ingredients, additives, toxins and nutrients. Those who are health conscious and yearn for a healthier life and well-being will also find this book most useful. Chia is a food chemist who advocates safe eating habits for a healthy life. About the Author: CHIA JOO SUAN has more than 25 years' experience as a food chemist with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), where she was responsible for certifying the quality of food products. She was involved in compiling Malaysian food nutrient data and providing other quality control advisory services for the food industry. The author of two healthy lifestyle guides, What's in Your Food? and You're What You Eat, Chia used to write the "Food Safety" column in The Star, where she wrote on food safety and nutrition, provided valuable advice to readers and answered their questions on healthy eating. She has been quoted in various publications, including Management and Oh! Only Health magazines. She was one of the five nominees for the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence 2003 held in Singapore. Chia holds a B.Sc. from the University of Otago and an M.Sc. from Lincoln College, Canterbury University, New Zealand.
